1/1/2010 7:10:39 PM | R.I.P Fighter, Blade, and the 3 others that gave thier lives to save Brace and Slick Rick-
Clan Dark Cloud has suffered a huge loss today. Forgotton was the gating powers that can cause a managable number of demons turn into utter devastation literally in the blink of an eye... |

1/2/2010 12:11:24 PM | I think i have gone through several hundred characters so far :) at least my clan has a lot of fertilizer :) |
Legion 1/4/2010 12:34:21 PM | Greyskull currently holds the record at 2426 clan members killed in action.
Interestingly, silverlode is a close second at 2227.
Dark Cloud, you're quickly climbing the ranks and sit in 6th with 916 KIA. |
1/4/2010 10:32:24 PM | AWESOME! i would love to have a "fun" stats page someday- like current number of KIA's most damage dealt, total number of wolves killed etc. would be fun- and easy to code if the stats are already available :0 |
1/4/2010 11:12:27 PM | i give up for a while. those demons are rough as hell, too bad that their strength drain is not connected to a magic use. |
Legion 1/5/2010 9:11:59 AM | I very nearly lost a party of level 4 and 5 characters last night to 31 goblin heros (actually 14 heros, 5 shamans, 4 wolves, the rest goblins). Turns out those 14 heros were almost all top-of-their-class and the shamans totalled 16 fireballs queued up. We were low on health and magic coming in (end of a level 10 adventure), and even with an alarm spell running didn't have enough time to get resist fire on everyone who needed it until the second round. We were in there with just 1.5 healers (a shaman was the half) and we were in trouble from the first round despite having raised shields and hasting the ninja.
The mistake I made, as is usually the case, was not recognizing the danger right away. By the time the fireballs had died down after round 4 most people were orange (or red) on HP and healing was about out. Everyone drank restore magic 5s and the recharged wizard got off a fog of escape illusion while the rest kept pounding their healing potions. Once the fog was up I started pulling guys out, a few at a time. Each round I'd send out the worst few with a heal-3 on the worst one in case he got whacked on the way out. The shaman meanwhile was summoning panthers (then wolves when low on SP) to help spread out the incoming attacks so that when I was down to a few guys they wouldn't be getting attacked by 15 enemies a piece. The cleric and shaman were the last out the door, by then all summons were dead and they were at 22 and 9 hp themselves. The 9 hp cleric was a tough call on the last round: keep his armor on (damaged down to 19 in the fight) and hope he gets a good init roll, or remove-all which would make him fast enough to (probably) act first and try to get away, but if not he'd die. I decided to remove-all and sure enough, only 1 wolf attacked first and hit for 7hp .. and then the cleric escaped. The shaman (defense 20) took a bit of a pounding (15 points total) before escaping on init 9.
I feel extremely lucky everyone got out alive!
Dark Cloud: If you think ppl are interested, I do have stats on total monsters killed by clan, broken down by monster type. I could make a clan-specific page for ppl to see. The problem is, sometimes I reset all (or part) of those stats when I make a big change to a specific monster when I feel the rest of the associated data is no longer accurate. So it wouldn't always be a perfect record. |
6/20/2010 8:28:50 AM | Thrudd XVIII
continues the tradition of sacrificing a member of the line of Thrudd when Many demons arrive to spoil the party- and encounter a situation that everyone would have died.

8/13/2010 7:48:43 PM | RIP Seil level 5 paladin of Black Dragon Society
Although I needed him to die, as he was solo, I didn't like watching him go. |
9/13/2010 7:18:37 AM | R.I.P.
Thrudd XX
The twentieth of teh line of Thrudd rests with his forfathers in the great hall....
Like those that went before him, he died so that other may live....
and FYI running a group of 5 or 6 that are recommended for a lvl 9 on a lvl 12 just for kicks is a great way to lose seriusly awesome characters...
Randy, is there any way to see how long i had that particular character? no worries if not, i was just curious.... |
Legion 9/13/2010 8:39:42 AM | Sorry, but there is not. And please accept my condolences for your loss. |
9/16/2010 9:16:49 AM | heh, no worries- i used to get bent out of shape when i lost a REALLy good character... not so much at all anymore- just not a lot of time to play :( |
9/17/2010 7:27:44 PM | hey id like to know what constitutes who gets to be the next in the line of Thrud... Is it the next recruit? is it a specific class?
Inquiring minds want to know.
PS i lost two level 5s that were some of my first chars bleh RIP |
9/18/2010 7:48:00 AM | it has to be a Barbarian - and high str and charisma preferably so they are literally the leader of teh clan on higher level adventures. i try to have at least 2 thrudds at any given time but it takes forever to level one up to actually be the "leader" |
