Legion 11/20/2012 6:36:35 PM | I'm looking for ideas for new earth spells, specifically low level ones including a level 0 and level 1. It'd be nice if they're not damage spells since elemental magic is already really overweighted on damage. I'm also not really after multi-discipline spells right now (like stoneskin = earth+body for example) but rather some basic intro earth spells for low level guys. |
Dark Realm 11/21/2012 6:09:08 AM | while all could be considered multi-disipline i have feeling that everything out there could be considered multi-discipline in one way or another :P.......and some are definately not level 0/1 :) ....create stone weapon(cheap weapon type. more advanced cast on specific charcter that creates weapon they are proficient in) stone tell(stone wall gives basic description of monster types that are in dungeon ie demons). scary stone face(causes fear in monsters/charcters not in casters group ;) that walk by it). stone door(creates door only inteligent monsters can get by). stone animal/man/just about anything (creates anything from a porter who carrys things removing some encumberance on charcters to scout stone squirrel). tremor(small low damage cave-ins occur most at enemy but chance at party as well). strengthen stone (1 stone weapon doubles in durability). |
11/21/2012 7:37:28 AM | One stone spell comes to mind is something that makes stone shot (make like 1-3 shots per casting, can only be done in combat/or disappears after the adventure if not used). Maybe something like Dust (temporarily blinds a creature). Mud (slows down movement thru an area, maybe even causing falls). Sand (slows creatures caught in it/chokes them lowering attack/defense skills, and maybe even an hp or 2, no spell casting while choking). With the stone weapon grey suggested, make it for the adventure only. Even rock (creates a stone a character can throw for an hp or 2 for those with no range weapons). Gravel (disrupts spell casting when thrown at an enemy). Until you get other uses for things, like the clan world, alot of spells will seem to be damage based. Things like making a stone bridge or wall outside the dungeon could work, or even making a stream shallow so you can pass would work. Only other thing i can think of right now would be pretty stone (make some cash selling it). |
Dark Realm 11/21/2012 1:34:17 PM | the regular create stone you can sell for 1 coin each you make still i think. Treasure sense (pinpoints largest metal deposit on map ;) ). Weaken stone (weakens stone doors, earth spirits, walls). Heat stone (damage to earth based creatures, makes area of map hot does damage when you pass it. Cool stone(damage to firebased creatures, cold damage when passing it). With night riders mud, can make lots of transmute spell types..transmute rock to mud, rock to sand, rock to air, rock to fire..albeit most should be in combination with other elements. Pass wall (make new route on map). And a nice higher level spell... Create exit(self explanitory) |
11/22/2012 11:01:38 AM | another spell that migh work is Cover (camoflague for hiding/ambush) allows a single sneak attack with a higher percentage of hitting an opponent, or avoiding combat if the monsters dont see you. The better the spell, the better the results. Distraction could be another for earth. |
WarWorld 11/23/2012 1:27:07 PM | Maybe something that impacts armor class, you take a reduction in movement but get better defense.
spell that turns enemy weapons/armor to stone.
Spell that increases the weight of enemy thereby reducing movement and to hits since more encumbered.
spell turns ghosts/wraiths more solid and easier to hit.

Legion 11/23/2012 3:32:59 PM | Wow you guys all have really top-notch ideas, most of which I hadn't considered. I couldn't have asked for better input, thank you all. I promise to add new earth spells next week. I'm not sure yet which will be the level 0 and 1 spells, but with so many good ideas here I'm certain I'll get something useful yet balanced in play. 11/24/2012 6:39:17 PM | So of the spells will probably duplicate spells from another group, but it would be nice to be able to cast certain types of spells, even if you dont have the specific class they belong to now. had a couple more thoughts, such as one that hardens dirt on a creature maybe immobilizing them. Dont know if flesh to stone is in the list, dont have any earth casters. Maybe steel to stone (weakens and increases the weight of things like armor/weapons and such). Even one that just increases the encoumberance/weight of a target creature. Might even negate flight if you can use it on creatures wings. Same thing could be done with water, by icing the wings.. meteor swarm for a high end that has a LARGE radius, maybe even a chance to hit the group the caster is in. A spell that covers a group increasing defense that last x time, but locks that group into place for that time. |
11/25/2012 5:19:52 PM | Rockslide/cavein (x damage initially, roll against dex to avoid being buried to avoid extra damage, roll against strength to dig out from under. x/round while buried. Crumble wall (causes cave in (see above) great for monster abilities). Reinforce wall (counters one casting of crumble walls. open pit (small damage and area of effect to begin with, 1 round to climb out. higher levels do more damage, longer to climb out, larger area of effect.) move earth (pushes one group of creatures back 1-3 squares, no action for a round or so. |

create/mold statue... that someone with enchantment could animate or something
i suppose for later can make lots of non adventure spells with creating/molding/moving buildings walls earth and mountains ;D |
11/28/2012 5:41:40 PM | With open pit, depending on the dungeon design and where the pit is, drop them to the next lower level. Now if you really wanna make something completely evil, you can stone wall over a pit and leave whatever is in there to die, including characters. Some counter spells could open a passage back up, but do you have the spell/spell points? Create golem would be a good spell for making animated things like moving statues. Ohter spells could do the same thing. Could be interesting to add in stone colums and have a few that strike creatures(characters) as they walk by. Even have things on doors attack, once they are put into the game. |
