2/6/2010 8:33:23 PM | I have discovered that I have a tendancy to rush through trying to level. I took my time with the last natch of 4 characters.
I ended up losing one of them on the way- but got the remaining three to level 3.
My biggest issue was worrying about a huge negative balance for money andlosing experience points for retreating. once I got over that- they survived and now will be able to play a support role for the to higher level characters.
morale to the story- patience will pay off. :) |

2/23/2010 8:17:23 AM | after losing a lvl 5 and a lvl 4 to nothing more than just negative funds (a hole that I could never climb out of) and subsequently losing a 3 person lvl 1 party to a single kobald with 1 hit point. I think it is time to call it quits. fun while it lasted- but too much time spent leveling only to lose characters later on. I know use large parties- low charisma seems to haunt me. I know there is a high mortality rate- way too high to develop any atachment to any character- when that attchment happens frustration comes next when they run into a random encounter that is a 1-in-40k chance. Good game though Randy- i will come back and spend some money when things are a bit more polished. really :) |
Dark Realm 2/23/2010 9:29:16 AM | Im the opposite, i spend to much time trying to make money and forget to level my characters sometimes. Ive lost a few when i could have leveled them up. And lost many with ok cash because i was saving up to buy a better more expensive item.
One way to make the extra cash is to make expendable wizards with crafting. Hard to do when already in negative funds but when you can you make as many as possible(unless there are some super stats to make different characters) and send them out with a higher level guy with poor cash. I almost always default to a wizard when possible if there is alot of poor stats for the character.
Have the wizards all create items in the starting area before the adeventure, the higher level guy should have little trouble with a 0 level adventure and a higher level/XP guy will usually collect most of the treasure. Wont work with really high level differences as low levels cannot create enough items to offset costs. But level 2-4 should be ok especially if you get some decent SP on new wizards.
Now after creating a new party i adeventure everyone with low funds back to enough to recruit again before i even take the new party out. |
