8/5/2009 10:50:41 PM | Recruiting isn't free. When you recruit, all your characters join in the effort. The more charismatic ones can recruit fairly cheaply, maybe just buying a few rounds of drinks at the local tavern. In fact rare individuals with 20+ charisma scores can recruit for free. But most must spend a good deal of money placing an ad in the paper, hiring recruiters, checking in with the temp agencies, and so forth.
If any of your characters do not have enough money, you cannot recruit anyone. When a character gets wealthy enough, you will see that his money is listed in yellow on the main page. Similarly, characters who need more money will be listed in orange. A message will be displayed under the adventure button that states,
in order to recruit more characters, some people need more money. The money listed above turns from orange to yellow when a character has enough to recruit.
To get more money, go on more adventures and sell your loot or equipment. The higher level the adventure the more money you will earn -- although this must be carefully balanced against the increased possibility of death.
Finally, beginning players will usually lose more or all of each recruited class. With practice, you will learn techniques and strategies that will help most recruits reach higher levels. Don't be discouraged if you lose a few, or a few hundred, learning the ropes. |
12/1/2009 1:09:22 PM | So my money has turned from orange to yellow, so I have enough to recruit, but I can't find a button to hire new characters. Do they just appear over time, or is there a way to buy them? |

12/1/2009 1:53:35 PM | The only time its necessary to recruit is when you have none. If you already have some recruits, no one is interested in going looking for more. Only when they are all used up will it become necessary (and possible) to recruit more. You have 6 recruits already waiting to become characters; you cannot get more until you use these. |
