5/28/2010 12:48:26 PM | Legion- i know that this is a very new game and it is ever evolving- i also like that you are open to suggestions that help with gameplay and help you mould this into the game that you want it to be- because you dont have to :p
Do you see more options for either game support or subscriptions in teh near future? more options i mean for the players that want to either provide support for the game financially or just to "get a leg up" in the game?

I expect that sometime in 2010 I will start developing the territorial aspect of the game, and on the heels of that will be the beginnings of a serious multi-player component. When players are able to directly compete against each other (via war, trade, multiplayer dungeons, etc) I think it is important for the playing field to stay relatively level. That is one of a few reasons that I am reluctant to open up MW to a donation-reward model, despite the obvious financial advantage it has over a subscription model.
That said, I would not be surprised if someday I add something (not yet sure what) for players who want to contribute more to the game. Perhaps a "gold" membership or the like with a clear set of controlled benefits, or a t-shirt or "create a race/class/monster/item/etc" raffle or similar ideas that don't confer any in-game advantages.
For now, however, I'm not going to explore any of that. I think for now the one simple membership is great. It doesn't impact new players in the least, but as they start to get characters to 2nd-3rd level and beyond the advantage of subscribing gets pretty obvious. Its pretty cheap, and it keeps everyone on a level playing field. |
