WarWorld 7/24/2012 4:56:02 PM | Aside from running any suggestions on handling large group (10 or more) of baby dragons? Seems sending summoned monsters don't do much. Can't seem to get them to stop using breath weapon.
Any suggestion appreaciated |
Legion 7/24/2012 6:55:19 PM | I don't think I've ever attempted to kill 10+ baby dragons. Sounds scary! |
Dragon Masters 7/24/2012 11:05:03 PM | Could use the summoned monsters to draw fire until you can get in range to strike and retreat. Dont know if silence would work to avoid the breath. Maybe putting up a wall on them and getting close when the wall drops, hit, then wall them again. Think legion said SOME dragon breath weapons were range 3, so hit from longer range with spells and hopefully take a few out. Not sure if missle weapons would work at that range. Tell us how it works out. Guess this is one of the must run from scenarios. By the way, isnt some of the spells used to protect from those breath weapons? Or am I mistaken? |
WarWorld 8/6/2012 11:02:40 PM | seems some resist spells lower damage but they have d20 rolls so unless you get low rolls doesn't matter much. Legion please give any advice on how to combat dragons. having a group of 11 dragons being able to remove 60+ hit points from all my characters before they can get in range is a bit much. |
WarWorld 8/6/2012 11:08:24 PM | I see the breath weapon for dragons are not tied to a dragon type. I>E baby blue dragons had fire and lighting breath.
Also with new movement for monsters may want to review dragons breath weapon and or recharge rates.
Or leave as is and let them be character removers.
What spell if any will make a dragon join a party? |
Legion 8/7/2012 7:01:53 AM | Once again I'm not the best one to answer this. I rarely fight more than 6 dragons at a time, but I know Greyskull and Clappendectomy have no trouble with 10-20 dragons so they must have figured out some tricks.
If I lost my mind and decided to fight 10 dragons at once I'd probably start by hand-picking a small team of characters with good resistance so their breath weapons wouldn't be an issue. It really doesn't take much resistance to make a big difference.
Each color dragon only has one breath weapon type. Blue dragons have lightning breath. There are no spells that make dragons join the party. If there is in the future, it will be nature magic, or possibly even more specialized as a nature-elemental hybrid. |
WarWorld 8/7/2012 11:03:12 AM | Sorry legion you are correct one breath attack per type. I missread adventure results. |
Clappendectomy 8/7/2012 1:22:29 PM | I don't really have any tricks. Groups of 10+ dragons are just gonna hurt. I just got wrecked by 12 baby whites, even after hand-selecting a group of guys with 4+ cold resistance. And it's worse than you think... I recently had baby blues drop a d50 breath on my party. As much as the d20s are bad, that's obviously a lot worse. I don't even know what I'd do if there were 10 d50-capable area effect enemies. Resistances help, but right now groups of dragons are just plain the hardest encounters out there. On the plus side, they carry great treasure! |
