I'm a total newb so be gentle. How do Yeoman work. Like when they have weapon smithing or other abilities. How do you use them? Thanks!!

What's up J? :) glad you tried the game- the yeoman class is something that i have not had much luck with- the abilities that they can start with give a chance- i believe- to create a weapon or other item at teh end of an adventure- it may be different now that the map system is in place as the end of the adventures are not so sudden-

I think Legion had said in chat that the chance of creating something is greater the higher the skill level- personally i just never use the class except as a meat shield for other lower level characters :) that or i just dismiss them right away.

hope this helps a little :)

The four crafting/smithing skills are probably already in need of an overhaul, but they are quite useful (if confusing) in their current incarnation. They have two functions.

First, they prevent equipment breaks. For higher level parties, they will save you thousands of coins in expenses every adventure. You will see a dark-brown message stating that someone "almost" broke an item but the yeoman is able to repair it. The higher the skill level, the greater the chance of generating this equipment-saving message. It won't take many repairs of your 5000+ coin items before you really appreciate the value of these skills.

Secondly, characters with these skills will create items after most adventures, with a value related to the skill level. A character with wood crafting level 1, for example, will probably add a few small improvised clubs to your loot collection each adventure, or perhaps a small club or small wooden shield and by level 10 or so will be generating staves, shields, and other items worth thousands of coins. The same holds for the other 3 skills, although the lack of low-priced metal armors means that armor smithing won't generally result in new equipment creations until fairly high skill levels (padded and leather armors fall under leather crafting).

Its likely this will change in the future to become a little more clear and user-friendly. Yeoman are probably one of the least helpful classes to include in your party, but at high levels they can really extend the life of your equipment and create enough new items to make everyone wealthy.

Awesome, i had no idea that they had that potential.

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't know that their skills were automatic. I was thinking I had to do an action for them to work. This helps alot!!!

i actually like yeoman. useless in battle but they can make a bit of cash even when not in an adventure. i had 2 yeamons(lv 0)with smithing, wood, leather and armour smithing lvl 1 and they generated an average of 2 gold/day change
